What is a
social bothy?
A ‘bothy’ is a small, unassuming hut, often found deep in the remote Scottish wilderness, for anyone caught in the wild weather.
The humble bothy will shelter you from the storm, offer you some basic provisions, and give you refuge when you need it most.
Picture yourself being out amongst the unforgiving peaks of Tasmania, a heavy pack on your back and a storm brewing. Thankfully, you spot a ‘wee bothy’ in the distance. It offers an unspoken welcome, a simple home for a night or two.
Four walls and a roof to keep you warm and tucked away from the unpredictable Tasmanian weather. A place to lay your head and rest. Some food to fill your belly. And a fire to warm your aching feet.
Deep into the night, you become immersed in the ‘bothy book’, a handwritten rain-blotched book filled with stories of past journeys and encounters, just like yours. As the sun sets, maybe you enjoy the solitude or perhaps you share stories between others who also need the warmth and shelter of the bothy.
Just like a bothy, my social bothy is here to shelter you from the digital storm.
And I always have a door open to welcome you.
No matter what you’re up against, I’m here to help you with the digital essentials and guide you through each new step of your social media journey.

The face
behind the
bothy
I'm Kirsty, and my journey spans two decades, beginning in the charming tourism village of Plockton on Scotland's West Coast. This picturesque area, nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes, faces challenges during harsh winters, impacting small tourism operators in the off-season. These challenges hit home as many of my close friends, family, and even my parents operate in this region.
To clarify, my name is Kirsty – not "Kristy," "Tracey," or occasionally "Percy." These have been the top three names I've accumulated, often leading to laughter from my eldest daughter.
My journey began when my parents bought a 14 bedroom hotel in Plockton, a village of 300 people and the main industries being tourism and fishing. By age 12 when I got my first job crafting pizzas at the local Fish and Chip shop during summer breaks. Saving diligently, I purchased four bicycles and launched my venture at 13, named Plockton Bike Hire.
Fast forward 26 years, my journey includes job experiences, a degree in Graphics Technology, work in wineries, restaurants, accommodations, and one-on-one coaching to assist small businesses in the digital landscape. This journey is peppered with unforgettable experiences, a relocation, raising two children, and my partner, Zac.
This brings me to my latest chapter, where I'm passionate about helping tourism-based businesses with their marketing potential through social media. I've witnessed the profound impact of an effective digital strategy on businesses, regardless of size. I'm here to walk with you on your path to success, and ensure you are not being taken advantage of with "self claimed social media managers"
Along the coast, there's a noticeable knowledge gap and tourism operators are struggling with social media for their business.
